To the Editor,
I was interested to read the article about waste collection charges.
Here in the Béarn, we have just had an increase of 34% in our collection charges, but the number of collections per year included in the base price remains at nine. That is once every six weeks!
Additional collections for a standard household bin have gone up to an eye-watering €5.80.

Regarding your recent article about penalties for too much waste (i.e. more than 18 collections), it may interest you to know that in Maine-et-Loire we are already penalised for any collection over 12.
