To the Editor,
A website called poste-en-ligne.com is a very clever UK-based site that imitates the La Poste site for sending a lettre recommandée in France.
It is very highly placed on Google, looks like an official site, and caught me out.
There are three things your readers should note. When you send a lettre recommandée with them, you automatically pay a monthly subscription fee of €39.90.
Although this is mentioned on the website, it is easy to miss. This subscription does not go through your bank’s double authentication process as only the price of the letter has to be authorised, so it is deducted from your account without you knowing, and then every month if you do not notice.
They also seem to have a way of deleting negative reviews on Trustpilot.
I wrote a bad review, after which Trustpilot told me that the company had contacted them and if I wanted my review to stay on the site, I had to reply.
However, in order to reply, I have to give a reference number that does not exist either on their site or in any email they sent to me. To top it all, my registered letter has not arrived.
There is a lot of information about this scam on the internet so be warned.
I have informed Google and Action Fraud in the UK

Editor’s note: Poste-en-ligne.com was unwilling to comment on the specific case but urged the reader to contact its customer service department directly, using the email address linked to his order, for “an appropriate response”.
The spokesperson said that terms and conditions, subscription information and legal notices are available at all times on the website.
In addition, each user receives a monthly summary email with the corresponding invoice. “With regard to reviews on external platforms, we strictly follow standard procedures defined by these platforms, which may require verification
