Visit a Post-Impressionist's garden this August
Just one of France's stunning gardens you can visit with a Jardins Ouverts Anniversary Card
Post-Impressionist artist Henri Le Sidaner bought his country house at Gerberoy, Oise in 1904, which at the time only had a vegetable garden.
Over the years he acquired more land and developed three colour themed gardens; the white garden, the rose garden and the yellow and blue garden where he built a replica of the Love Temple from the Petit Trianon at Versailles.
Le Sidaner was also inspired by his travels, and added Italian-style sculptures to his living masterpiece.
In 2008, the painter’s grandson, Etienne Le Sidaner, and his wife Dominique started restoring the gardens and were awarded the label Jardin Remarquable in 2013. In August, the roses, for which the gardens are famous, will still be in bloom as well as the hydrangeas.
