AROUND 10,000 homes in Aquitaine and Midi-Pyrénées have been left without power following storms.
Winds peaked with gusts of more than 100kph, with 106kph being recorded in Castres in the Tarn department, according to Météo France.
Sixty-nine residents of a campsite in Vernet, south of Toulouse, were evacuated into the entertainment hall after a tree came down.
School transport has been cancelled this morning in the Gard and in the Aude the prefecture has ordered HGVs to observe lower speed limits.
