2012 Baccalauréat results released
Students are finding out whether they have passed or failed – or will have to sit ‘catch-up’ orals
THIS year’s Baccalauréat results are out today.
Some 700,000 people who took the exam this year will find out if they have passed, or failed or whether they are borderline (mark 8-10) and need to take “catch-up” oral exams.
The results are released at different times depending on the region, with some already out and Corsica being the last at 19.00.
They can be consulted either at lycées where the students took their exams or online at: Bac results (students need their exam registration number - numéro d’inscription).
The orals, where needed, test the candidates on two subjects of their choice – in each subject the best grade, either that gained for the written paper, or that from the oral – will be retained. They will be held by Wednesday morning at the latest, with the results given almost immediately.
As is traditional, some markers have been revealing in the French press some of the more unusual answers they read this year, known as les perles du Bac.
This year’s included the following observations:
• (History) Following the fall of the Berlin Wall wind circulation was restored in Europe and, with the arrival of warm currents, we therefore saw the end of the Cold War.
• (Philosophy) According to Rousseau it is better to dream of ones desires than to realise them. That’s why he always lived alone and unhappy.
• (Philosophy, on the topic of “work”) The proof that work is not useful is that Jesus Christ never worked. He travelled from place to place spreading love, but never worked.
