90 limit was not too fast
Speed cameras in France are not the cause of the recent rise in road deaths.
The cameras are pretty much set in random locations. As you drive along a straight, good-condition road in the middle of nowhere, a speed camera will appear.
When I drove through Germany there were no signs for cameras but they were there, situated at the entrances and exits to towns most of the time. It feels like they are making it safe for people.
Since the speed limit has been reduced from 90kph to 80kph, I have noticed myself speeding more than before.
Also those who tended to drive at 80kph instead of 90kph now are doing 70kph instead of 80kph. Why change a speed limit that wasn't particularly dangerous anyway?
