Airport blockades cause delays
Nantes, Paris Orly, Toulouse, Bordeaux and Clermont-Ferrand hit by delays and cancellations as protesters block access.
DEMONSTRATORS are blocking several regional airports and Paris Orly leading to delays and cancellations.
At Nantes airport the pension protesters are making access difficult. A spokeswoman said many people were having to park further out and walk in. It is advisable to plan ahead and leave plenty of time to travel.
Three flights from Lille and Clermont-Ferrand had been cancelled, she said. Flights were running, but with about 45 minutes' delay on average.
There are also problems at Orly airport, where a quarter of flights today are reportedly cancelled due to strikes. According to the Ile-de-France road monitor, the N7 and A106 are blocked heading towards the airport.
At Charles de Gaulle services were said to be “normal” this morning but protests may take place later today.
In the south-west, access to the Toulouse-Blagnac airport by the A621 was difficult this morning.
However a spokeswoman said the blockage was now cleared and although there are currently no cancellations there are “an enormous amount of delays”.
Bordeaux Merignac reported a similar picture and said passengers should keep an eye on their website, which was being continually updated with details of each flight.
At Clermont-Ferrand demonstrators were blocking access to the airport this morning and preventing flights from taking off.
The CGT union reported that nearly 500 demonstrators from various professions were stopping planes from fuelling, or staff from boarding.
No planes were expected to take off this morning, however Connexion was unable to contact the airport for the latest position on writing this article.
