THE NUMBER of students passing this year's baccalauréat is stable compared to last year at 87.8%, according to provisional figures from France's education ministry.
Some 617,900 candidates received their bac this year - with some having to re-take part of the test as an oral exam earlier this week.
The general bac pass rate stands at 91.5% (up 0.6 points). The technological bac pass rate was 90.6%, while the bac professionnel rate fell 1.6 points to 80.3%.
Education minister Najat Vallaud-Belkacem said the results were "very good". The definitive figures are published in September, once students who were ill during the exam season have taken their tests.
