Bataclan rock band back on stage

Eagles of Death Metal make appearance at U2 concert, after their gig was interrupted by Paris attackers

The US rock band whose Paris concert was targeted by attackers on November 13, killing 90 people, have appeared back on stage in the French capital less than a month later.

Eagles of Death Metal joined U2 for the end of their concert at Bercy Arena, where they performed a joint rendition of Patti Smith's People Have The Power.

Victims' names were projected on a large video screen in the colours of the French flag. Ninety of the 130 people killed in the November 13 attacks were inside the Bataclan concert venue during the Eagles of Death Metal concert.

U2 frontman Bono told the crowd of 16,000: "They were robbed of their stage three weeks ago and we would like to offer them ours tonight."

U2's concerts at Bercy had originally been scheduled for November 14 and 15, the days after the Paris attacks, but were postponed.

U2 guitarist The Edge said in a recent CNN interview: "It seemed like the target [of the attacks] was culture and every kind of expression of the best of humanity - great music, restaurants, French food - everything that we hold dear."
