The Michelin Guide has revealed its 2026 ‘Bib Gourmand’ list in France, with 75 restaurants chosen not only for their food, but also good value for money.

The list was unveiled at the Rungis International Market in Paris today (February 10), ahead of the release of the full Michelin Guide 2026 which is set for March 16.

Established in 1997, the Bib Gourmand list highlights establishments that offer a good quality meal for around €45 per person in Paris, and €40 per person elsewhere (not including drinks).

This differs from the restaurants highlighted in the regular Michelin Guide, whose starred establishments typically charge hundreds of euros per person for dishes.

The 2026 list comprises 75 restaurants, two fewer than the 2025 list, but 19 more than the 2024 ranking. Of the 75, 50 are new and only opened in the previous 12 months. There are sites in large and small cities and towns, right down to small villages. A wide variety of cuisines are covered.

‘Vitality and liveliness’

“The Bib Gourmand recognises a difficult equation: maintaining a very high standard of cuisine, with real attention paid to the product and execution, while offering reasonable prices,” the Michelin Guide states on its website.

“The 2026 selection illustrates the vitality of a gastronomic scene that remains accessible. All styles are represented, from bistros serving classic French cuisine to Japanese, Korean and Indian flavours,” it said.

Despite fears over low purchasing power and difficult economic times in France, reasonably-priced restaurants appear to be doing well.

“A trend is emerging: inns and bistros are being taken over, becoming lively places once again, boosting the economy and reviving social ties,” said the Guide.

Regional excellence

Four regions have done particularly well on the list: Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (15 new Bib Gourmand sites), Île-de-France (12), Nouvelle-Aquitaine (11), and Occitanie (9).

“Travelling across France to discover these new addresses has been a real pleasure for our inspection teams,” said Gwendal Poullennec, international director of the Michelin Guide.

Calling the Bib Gourmand scheme “a celebration of vibrant gastronomy, present throughout the country”, he said: “In villages and cities alike, passionate chefs are the beating heart of their local areas, introducing people to high-quality cuisine that is accessible to as many as possible.”

There are now 430 Bib Gourmand restaurants in France in total.
