Bid to ban homework

A POVERTY charity and a prominent parentteacher group are calling for schoolpupils to get two weeks without homework, saying homework disadvantages those from poorer backgrounds who do not have equal access to books, computers and parental guidance and support.

ATD-Quart Monde supported the call by the FCPE, whose president, Jean Jacques Hazan, said: “If full-time professionals can’t educate children, why should parents fill in the gaps?”
