Biker caught doing 200kph acrobatics
Dangerous rider was photographed 23 times performing high-speed stunts by speed camera
A MOTORCYCLIST who challenged himself to perform a series of high-speed stunts in full view of a speed camera in Brittany has been caught by police, 23 offences later, and convicted.
The 26-year-old biking fanatic from the Côtes-d'Armor was hit with a five-year suspended sentence by a court in Saint-Brieuc and fined €1,350 for the acrobatics displays in front of a radar in Saint-Brandan, knowing that the camera could only flash the front number plate of a vehicle.
Police were determined to track down the man who, between June 2014 and March this year, was flashed 23 times at speeds ranging from 176 to 200kph - on a road with a 90 speed limit.
In each picture he can be seen with one or both legs or hands in the air. He told the court he was addicted to the adrenaline rush and thought he was unstoppable.
He was eventually caught when he made the mistake of overtaking a gendarmerie car at high speed. His driving licence and two bikes have been confiscated and he must wait 10 months before he can retake the test.
