Decree published this weekend means fines from €11 to €135 for not carrying a fluorescent jacket
MOTORCYCLISTS and scooter riders will be required to carry a fluorescent yellow jacket with them from next year, or face a fine.
The decree was published this weekend in the Journal Officiel and comes into effect on January 1.
An €11 fine applies in case of a spot check, rising to €135 if the jacket is not used during an emergency stop.
Drivers have already been required since 2008 to have a fluorescent jacket and a red triangle with them in case of breakdown or other emergency, to increase their chance of being seen by other road users.
