Body of missing 85-year-old found in south-west France

The woman's car was spotted in a ravine

Update - Monday, April 6: Suzanne Manat's body was found at roughly 19:30 on April 4 in the commune of Laparrouquial (Tarn), near the border with Aveyron. A major search operation had been underway all week. Her body was found by a jogger who spotted Mrs Manat's car in a ravine, fallen 150m. Emergency services identified Mrs Manat inside the vehicle, reported La Dépêche du Midi.

An 85-year-old woman has been reported missing by Gendarmes in Occitanie.

Suzanne Manat disappeared on Saturday (March 28) from Monestiés, Tarn. 

She was visiting her brother at his house in the area and was then scheduled to visit her sister’s house nearby, but never arrived. 

Mrs Manat left her brother’s house in a white Renault Twingo, with the registration number AV-851-XY.

She is 1.65 meters tall, wears glasses, and was wearing a long grey jacket when she left her brother's house. 

Anyone with information is asked to call the local gendarmes on 05 63 76 89 20, or 17 in an emergency. 

Officers have been using drones and a helicopter to comb the thick woodland in the area. 

“A drone pilot has been called in to fly over the starting point of the search, which is her brother's house, the last place she was seen,” said Captain François Latouchel of the Albi Gendarmerie.
