Bourges pizza maker world champion of dessert pizzas

Olivier Mazzadi is the 2017 world champion dessert pizza maker and was crowned in Rome.
Mr Mazzadi’s creation includes grilled pears, flamed rum, mascarpone cheese, grilled almonds and chocolate spread.
“The downside of winning is that now I have to put it on the menu – it’s a lot of work!”, Mr Mazzadi joked.
Mr Mazzadi set up his pizza restaurant, Aéropizza, in Bourges, Cher, in 2009 after resigning from his role as catering manager for the Accor hotel chain.
In 2016 he won second place in the French Championship for his margherita pizza and in the European Championship for his calzone. In May 2017 he went on to win the European Championship for calzone.
