British ambassador is leaving
BRITISH ambassador to France Sir Peter Westmacott has announced his departure at the end of this year. He has held the post for more than four years, the typical stint for an ambassador, having started in March 2007.
It has not been revealed who his replacement will be or where Sir Peter’s next posting will be, although there has been speculation in the British press that he may be going to Washington. Speaking at an embassy party on the occasion of the Queen’s birthday last month
Sir Peter said he and his wife Susie would be sad to leave. His term as ambassador was his second posting to Paris - he also worked as a diplomat there for four years in the early 1980s. Connexion’s former interview with Sir Peter can be found on our website www.connexionfrance.com
