Britons' personal stories needed for new Brexit book
British citizens living in France are being invited to send in their stories of how Brexit is affecting them for a chance to feature in a not-for-profit book to be called In Limbo Too.
The project is being organised by the Brexpats – Hear Our Voice (BHOV) campaign group in a partnership with the team behind in Limbo, a book published in June 2017 which told the stories of citizens from other EU countries living in the UK. The book grew out of a Facebook group: Our Brexit Testimonies.
BHOV member Jan Glover said: “The first book was a compilation of testimonies from EU citizens in UK and just a few UK citizens’ ones. It is available on Amazon as a book or kindle e-book and since December a publisher took it on and it is now available in some shops. This new book is for UK Citizens in the EU, to give them a voice also.
“Some of the testimonies in the first book are heart wrenching, I think that the second book might show more anger but we will have to wait and see what testimonies come in.
“We will need a lot to fill the book and it would be great to get a full cross section of UK citizens across the EU.”
It is planned that In Limbo Too will include 150 personal stories, which could be anonymous if preferred.
BHOV founder Debbie Williams said: “Everyone has something unique to say, long, short, emotional, factual, anything at all.
“They will be treasured by us all and also considered a historical record of the days that we have been living in limbo.”
There is a deadline of the end of March for stories to be sent in, but the organisers say it is best to send them as soon as possible.
Any testimonies emailed to news@connexionfrance.com marked in the subject as being for In Limbo Too will be passed on. If stories are chosen for inclusion the organisers will firstly send participants consent forms to sign and will ask them how they would like to be referred to in the book.
