If you go down to Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets, near Saint-Malo, tomorrow, be sure of a tasty surprise…

Thirty of the best crêpe makers will gather in one Brittany town to fight it out for the title of world champion.

The annual contest takes place in Saint-Jouan-des-Guérets, near Saint-Malo. Contestants will have to create both savoury and sweet crêpes for the judges.

Last year's winner Catherine Beuzit, who runs the Mad' Moiselle Breizh crêperie in Plougasnou told 20minutes.fr that she had been surprised at how busy she has been since winning the event. Trade at her crêperie rose 30%, and she welcomed more international customers than ever, all keen to taste the world's best crêpes.

The president of the fédération crêpière, Gilles Stéphant, believes there are between 3,500 and 4,000 crêperies in France.
