Bus and tram drivers strike
Bus and tram conductors to go on strike in Nantes this weekend.
Bus and tram conductors to go on strike in Nantes this weekend.
Following a first strike in May, trade unions have called for another walk-out this week-end.
The strike, which is scheduled to last from 3.30am on Saturday to 3.30am on Monday, is likely to affect most routes.
The protest is a plea from Semitan employees who want more protective measures against aggressive behavior from commuters, especially during large events and sporting fixtures.
The union is asking for vehicles to be equipped with an "anti-aggression window" to fully protect drivers and not just a half-window, as proposed by the bus company.
Semitan management says that the changes represent a major investment and that a pilot scheme of the windows in Montpellier "has not been conclusive".
Exact details of the routes affected have not been released yet and passengers should therefore check the website, www.tan.fr, before travelling.
