Canal+ to open new YouTube channels

Private operator to launch dedicated free channels for the Grand Journal, Groland and other programmes

CANAL+ is to create dedicated free YouTube channels for its programmes.

The private broadcaster and programme maker said the 20 channels would enable it to make it programmes more visible on the internet.

La Tribune said it will share advertising revenue made through the channels with YouTube.

The service will complement Canal+’s private view-on-demand services, where users now watch 10 million videos a month.

As part of its new internet strategy, the group is also launching Canal Factory – a new label to develop online shows.

The new label will be more experimental and plans “diverse short formats and original productions developed especially for the web”.
