Chance to be an Asterix character
Fans of the character are invited to dress up in a helmet and plaits for a chance to be depicted in this year’s new book
ASTERIX fans are being offered a chance to appear in the next album of adventures of the Gaulish cartoon hero.
To be in with the chance of being immortalised in the comic book – due out in October – you need to take pictures of yourself dressed as closely as possible in the style of an Asterix character, alone and against a plain, light-coloured background, both facing the camera and in profile.
Organisers Editions Albert René suggest you could wear a false moustache, a helmet (with or without wings on it), a toy sword and a plaited wig.
The images should then be posted (combined into one image or as two) as JPGs or PDFs no bigger than 1MB via a dedicated app on the official Asterix and Obelix Facebook page accompanied by the hashtag #CastingAstérix at: Competition App.
Two winners - whose photos will be picked out at random from ones received - will be caricatured in the style of their photo in the new book, which will be the second by new writer and artist team Jean-Yves Ferri and Didier Conrad. They will also get a print of the page and be invited to the book launch in Paris on October 22. Five runners-up will also be invited and will get luxury editions of the book and their photos will be publicised on Asterix social media.
People in France, the UK and Germany may take part and you need to be aged at least 18.
The two main winners will be told by private message on February 24 and have to send back a form and certain documents by courier to Paris by midday on February 27.
The full rules can be found here (in French): Rules and include not showing any anachronisms or modern trademarks; not inciting crime or bad morals such as hatred, debauchery, cowardice or laziness, or anything that might demoralise the young or inspire prejudices; not alluding to money, alcohol, politics, sex, drugs or medicines, or referring to ‘equipment or situations which have nothing to do with the Gaulish period’.
