Coach driver had 15 pints of lager
Man had ignored three-month driving ban and was on his way to pick up tourists for an airport transfer in Paris
A COACH driver in Paris has been caught by police driving without a licence, the morning after a 15-pint drinking binge.
Motorcycle police stopped the driver on his way to a hotel to pick up a group of tourists and take them to Charles de Gaulle airport.
They discovered he was already banned for three months after an earlier drink-driving offence and had failed to tell his employer that he could no longer do his job.
Blood tests taken at the time showed 0.74mg of alcohol per litre, one and a half times over the legal limit.
He was taken in for questioning, and after sobering up, admitted to having drunk 15 pints of lager the night before.
The French legal drink-driving limit is 0.5mg per litre, roughly the equivalent of two small glasses of wine.
This is lower than the UK limit of 0.8mg, but more than the 0.2mg limit recommended by the European Commission.
