Cut-price summer rail tickets offer
Train operator SNCF and low-cost subsidiary IDTGV both unveil budget ticket offers for summer rail travel
SNCF has unveiled discount offers for TGV travel for the summer holidays.
The cut-price tickets are available on journeys between July 1 and August 28, with more than 20 million people expected to make a rail journey in France during the summer months.
As in 2015, prices start from as little as €25 for a single second-class ticket from Paris to Biarritz, Hendaye, Toulouse, Marseille, Saint-Raphael or Menton.
The number of tickets is limited and are available only on certain days. The tickets are not refundable.
More than 20 destinations in the south are included in the current offer. Summer tickets to other destinations will become available from March 31.
Meanwhile, iDTGV, the low-cost subsidiary of SNCF, has also opened sales for train journeys between April 3 and September 11.
A selection of second-class one-way tickets to more than 30 destinations, including Bordeaux, Marseille, Nimes and Toulon, are available from €19. Again, the number of tickets and dates are limited, but iDTGV tickets can be exchanged online.
