Depardieu fined €4,000 and banned

Actor had denied drink-driving when he was in Paris scooter accident

ACTOR Gérard Depardieu has been fined €4,000 and banned from driving for six months for driving while drunk.

Depardieu, 64, had denied drink-driving last November when he was breath-tested after a scooter accident in Paris.

Police said his breath smelled strongly of alcohol and he initially refused to take the test saying he had been drinking.

Tests showed he had 1.8g of alcohol per litre of blood – more than three times the legal limit of 0.5g/litre.

He was not in court at the Palais de Justice de Paris for the verdict and sentence.
