DNA technology can be used to track down the owners of dogs that foul the streets of the Hérault town of Béziers,
a court in Marseille has ruled.
However, while the court ruled that the town’s mayor Robert Ménard – elected to office in 2014 with the support of the far-right Front National – has the power to issue the controversial bylaw, it warned the measures are ‘disproportionate to the requirements of public safety and sanitation’.
