Domenech sues for World Cup damages

Former France football coach takes €2m claim for severance pay to employment tribunal, report claims

FORMER France football coach Raymond Domenech has lodged a claim for €2m in damages for being sacked following the team's disastrous World Cup performance.

Domenech was dropped by the French Football Federation in September for a "serious error" after Les Bleus crashed out at an early stage in the tournament.

Le Post revealed last night that he is challenging the dismissal at the the Prud'hommes (employment tribunal)

The site says lawyers from both sides had attempted to settle the matter amicably, but the discussions came to nothing.

Domenech is reportedly claiming €2m in severance pay, the equivalent of two years' salary.

France was sent home early from the World Cup after the team came bottom in their group. They scored just one goal in four-and-a-half hours of play.

The team's image was also damaged off the pitch after a number of players staged a rebellion and refused to take part in a training session.
