Embassy flies flag for Gay Pride week

Ambassador celebrates ‘diversity’ as thousands join march in Paris streets

AS THOUSANDS of Gay Pride marchers took to the streets in Paris at the weekend, the British Embassy flew the homosexual movement’s rainbow flag above the embassy door.

Tens of thousands of marchers marked the Gay Pride parade just two months after the law legalising same-sex marriage and adoption was passed. It also came one month to the day after the first gay marriage was celebrated in Montpellier.

Ambassador Sir Peter Ricketts said on his Twitter account he was “Flying #RainbowFlag to celebrate diversity and #LGBT rights incl for our own great team!”

Last year the Cabinet Office in London was the first to fly the rainbow flag and this year the British Embassy is doing the same. It comes as the bill on homosexual marriage is going through Parliament.

At the weekend UK Prime Minister David Cameron said the bill would tell young gay people "their love is the same as anyone else's love".
