Centrist Emmanuel Macron (En Marche) won 23.7% of the votes and far right candidate Marine Le Pen 21.7% in the first round of the presidential election, first estimates in an Ipsos/Sopra Steria poll for France Télévisions and Radio France claim.
The two will face each other on May 7.
Official figures are now awaited at around 22h.
