End of confinement may be regionalised says PM
It is "likely" that the end of home confinement in France will not be at the same time for everyone throughout the country, the prime minister said today.
Edouard Philippe said the government was studying several possibilities - regionalised de-confinement, or one based on the results of testing or by age groups.
"We hope to be able to present a strategy in the week to come, over the next few days to give people a perspective [on the plans]," he said.
He was speaking as part of questioning by MPs during a hearing into information on the Covid-19 health crisis.
New figures relating to the virus released tonight by the health minister show the death toll in hospitals in France from the virus in now 4,032 (+ 509 in the last 24 hours).
There are now 5,940 people in intensive care (+ 444 in 24 hours) and 24,543 in total in hospital in France suffering from Covid-19.
