Extra chance to be millionaire
Lottery organiser adds new France-only draw to accompany Euromillions
THE FRENCH lottery operator, La Française Des Jeux, is launching a new game to accompany the twice-weekly Euromillions draw.
From February, gamblers can opt to pay €2.50 for their ticket instead of €2 and be entered into a France-only "My Million" draw, with a guaranteed €1million jackpot.
It is similar to the Millionaire Raffle offered to UK players of Euromillions, which was set up to compensate for the price difference between a €2 ticket on the continent and the £2 rate in Britain.
The draw will be made at the same time as the Euromillions results - on Tuesday and Friday evenings.
The announcement was made today, Friday 13th, a date on which la Française des Jeux gives away a minimum €13million jackpot in a special Loto draw.
It has been a tradition in France to have a lottery on Friday 13th since 1933.
