Passengers air frustrations on Twitter after London-to-Paris Eurostar damaged in collision with wild animal near Lille
PASSENGERS travelling on the late-night Eurostar between London and Paris last night endured a five-hour delay after the train struck an animal.
The driver’s cab suffered severe damage in the collision with the animal, thought to be a deer, which occurred 15km from Lille at 10.30pm.
Technical teams were called to repair the engine so it could limp into Lille.
Some travellers took to Twitter to air their frustration at the lengthy delay. “We’ve been stuck here for two hours,” on tweeted. “It took a long time for the technical team to arrive.”
The 400 passengers were eventually transferred to another train and finally arrived at Gare du Nord shortly after 4.30am.
