Floating store opens for business
Grocery shopping just became easier for nautical types who would be all at sea without their morning paper
NAUTICAL types enjoying a sojourn on the ocean wave off the Glénans archipelago, south of Finistère, can now get their daily bread, milk - and even the morning paper - without setting foot on dry land.
Domnique and Marie-Pierre Lemarchand have set up a floating grocery store on a former training vessel from the islands’ famous boating school. From 8am until 8pm, anyone enjoying a day at sea can sail up to the vessel and buy a range of goods - and can even order fuel, spare parts for their boats, or even medicines.
The couple also offer a delivery service that has also proved popular with those who do not want to head to the nearest dry-land shop, at Concarneau.
