Flying rubbish – new video targets litter louts

The publicity campaign by Toulouse Métropole, which will see the video (watch it below) played in cinemas and on social networks, aims to raise awareness of the importance of cleanliness in public spaces.

Speaking at the launch of the campaign, Romuald Pagnucco, assistant director of waste services in the city, said that a unit against anti-social behaviour, set up in 2014, had doubled the number of cases against people over dogs fouling the streets. The unit has carried out 855 investigations, which lead to 92 fines for dog owners.

Last year, in order to dissuade revellers from relieving themselves in public places, 89 fines were given out by the municipal police in Saint-Pierre to people for urinating on the street.

But despite a 47% increase in the number of public bins over two years, and the deployment of mobile urinals during major events, the city’s footpaths are still far from being clean – and the video is aimed at changing that.
