Four hours trapped in railway tunnel
TGV passengers stranded on train - while another incident brings chaos to main airport link in Paris
TRAIN passengers were trapped for four hours in a tunnel yesterday after their TGV broke down.
The blocked train was carrying 300 people from Paris to Besançon and came to a halt in the tunnel in Limeil-Brévannes, in the Val-de-Marne, shortly after 7.00.
About 30 SNCF staff tried to fix the fault, before the passengers were evacuated at about 11.00 on to a replacement train.
Six other services were delayed by up to an hour.
Another incident, in the evening, brought chaos to the main train link between Paris and Charles de Gaulle airport.
A power cut on the RER B near Drancy (Seine-Saint-Denis) at 18.00 left thousands of passengers stranded. Replacement buses were not put in place until 20.30.
Services should be running as normal between the airport and the capital this morning.
