France fêtes music tonight
Millions of people expected to enjoy free concerts all over France - and 110 countries worldwide
THOUSANDS of free concerts take place this evening as France celebrates its 29th annual Fête de la Musique.
From the big Paris squares to rural salles des fêtes, some 18,000 events are planned. This year's theme is women.
It is the one night of the year when anyone can put on a performance - and the one night when noise regulations are largely ignored.
Full details are available on the official Fête de la Musique website
Le Figaro also has a list of all the events in Paris, grouped by arrondissement.
The Fête was set up by Jack Lang in 1982 and is now present in 110 countries. Clips from some of the concerts taking place around the world will be shown on the big screen at the Belliloise in Paris's 20th arrondissement.
