France weekly weather forecast October 13 - 17: Calm and warm

South-west set to see temperatures considerably above seasonal norms

Peaceful conditions should continue throughout the week
Published

Calm weather is set to continue across France this week with dry and sunny conditions forecast for most areas.

Temperatures may drop in the north and east by the end of the week as cooler air from Central Europe covers parts of France, but elsewhere they will remain above average for the season.

Monday October 13

Calm conditions seen over the weekend will continue, as a high-pressure system from the British Isles remains in place across the English Channel and much of France.

Morning fog should have dissipated quickly, leading to sunshine across the country although patches of clouds along the Belgian border and Mediterranean are likely to remain throughout the day.

Temperatures will hover at between 17C in the north and 22C in the south but could reach higher again in the south-west - possibly 25C (Toulouse) and 26C (Bordeaux).

In the east around the German border, temperatures may drop to as low as 8C-10C in the middle of the day, however this is average for the season.

Tuesday October 14

The sun will continue to shine with only some wispy clouds in the north and south expected.

Temperatures will remain mostly similar to Monday, rising slightly around Paris (up to 20C) but falling by around 1C in the south-west.

Wednesday October 15

Patches of cloud in the north will remain, but the south will fully benefit from sunny skies, particularly along the Mediterranean.

A slight drop in temperatures will see highs in the north decrease to around 15C, and to around 18C in much of the south.

However, the Mediterranean coastline and south-west will still see the thermometer touch 24C. This is up to 5C above average for the season.

Thursday October 16

Conditions will remain largely unchanged as the high-pressure system remains and brings plenty of sunshine.

Some river valleys will see early morning fog, but this will quickly clear. Weather warnings for drivers are unlikely.

A very slight drop in temperatures in the south will see highs fall by around 1C, although with the sunshine and a lack of strong winds this will hardly be noticeable.

Friday October 17

Cooler air coming from the east will begin to cover France, causing temperatures to drop by around another 1C or 2C.

However, the cooler air is not set to bring rain, and sunshine should remain plentiful in the south.

The north may see thicker clouds as the day progresses.

Early weekend forecasts show rain sweeping in from the Atlantic coast on Sunday morning to cover much of the country.
