France’s Jardin du Luxembourg voted Europe’s most beautiful garden
The garden in Paris also came out third most beautiful in the world in the new study, just behind the Gardens by the Bay in Singapore and Jardin Majorelle in Morocco
The Luxembourg Garden (Jardin du Luxembourg) in Paris, France has been voted Europe’s most beautiful public park, and the third-most beautiful in the world, in a new analysis of global reviews.
The study, carried out by air quality specialists House Fresh, collated TripAdvisor reviews of public parks, and counted how many times they were described as “beautiful” by visitors.
Luxembourg Garden won out in Europe with 6,818 mentions. This puts it ahead of the most beautiful public park in the US, Bellagio Conservatory & Botanical Garden, which received 5,706 mentions.
It came in third worldwide, behind the second-most beautiful park, Jardin Majorelle in Morocco (8,187), and Gardens by the Bay in Singapore, which was the worldwide winner with 12,385 mentions.
The Jardin du Luxembourg is in Paris’ 6th arrondissement, and is the garden of the Luxembourg Palace. Work on the gardens began in 1612, for Marie de' Medici, the widow of King Henry IV.
Spanning 23 hectares, it includes lawns, promenades, tennis courts, flowerbeds, and a body of water with a fountain, called the Grand Bassin, plus several other fountains dedicated to the Medicis.

- Keukenhof, Netherlands (2,719)
- English Garden, Germany (2,647)
- Royal Botanic Gardens Kew, England (2,092)
- Princes Street Gardens, Scotland (1,930)
- Monte Palace Madeira, Portugal (1,721)
- Upper Barakka Gardens, Malta (1,249)
Luxembourg Gardens were the only gardens in France to make the list, although the Japanese Gardens in Monaco came some way behind with 199 mentions.
