Free advice from notaires
From October 1-3 there are various ways to obtain legal advice, in person, online and on the phone
FREE legal advice will be on offer from notaires at the annual Rencontres Notariales, on October 1-3 at the Chambre des Notaires de Paris and at venues around the country.
Face to face meetings will be available in many locations, such as the departmental notaires’ chambers in Saint-Brieuc, Nice and Saintes. Outside these more formal settings, many local notaires are also set to hold meetings at cafés in communities around France, called the Conseil du Coin, on October 3.
They will also be doing online chats at notaires.fr and answering calls on 3620 on October 1 from 18.00-21.00 (say “notaire” when you call the line).
The chats will include topics such as wills and formal gifts and buying property.
Talks and discussions are being held in Paris on key topics including how to buy as a couple, inheritance planning and factors affecting familles recomposées (non-traditional families, eg. with children from different relationships).
For a full list of events around the country visit Events, for local café venues see Conseil du Coin and for more general information see Meet notaires.
There are no specifically English-speaking events, however many notaires speak English and, if necessary, it is worth enquiring at venues or via the helpline to see is an English-speaker is available.
