Free legal advice sessions Dec 6
NOTAIRES will be giving free legal advice at events across France on Saturday.
THE 29th Rencontres Notariales has a theme of ‘couples.’
The main event is at the Palais des Congrès at Porte Maillot, Paris, but others will also be organised by provincial chambres des notaires (departmental professional bodies for notaries), either at their premises or at venues like mairies or conference centres.
In Paris there will be talks on issues like choosing between a marriage, a pacs and concubinage (living together unmarried).
Other topics explored – all from the point of view of couples - will include how to buy property, rights of couples of different nationalities, how to protect your partner and children in the event of your death and how to start a business.
Notaires will be on hand to answer a range of legal questions. There is an advice line during the day on 01 40 68 65 00 and a live internet chat.
A notaire is the legal professional that private individuals in France are most likely to consult. Their work includes tasks carried out by a family solicitor in the UK – such as marriage and property matters - but they also advise business people.
Some regional events take place before Saturday. For details on open days around France click here.
