A rainy start to the weekend will clear up to bring pleasant weather to most, although clouds will persist in the south-west and temperatures will drop by up to 5C across the country.
Rain across the west, centre and northern half of the country will be more significant near the Belgian border at the start of the weekend, with only the south-east guaranteed to remain dry throughout.
Friday October 3
This is set to be a dreary day with grey clouds and drizzle stretching across northern France.
It should remain dry south of the Loire but dense grey clouds will limit sunshine.
Only the south-east and Corsica will see prolonged periods of sunshine.
Temperatures will hover between 15C and 18C in the north and reach between 20C and 22C in the south.
Parts of the western Mediterranean coast will see the highest temperatures of the day at around 24C.
Saturday October 4
The north of France will be impacted by Storm Amy, a powerful former hurricane set to hit the British Isles late on Friday night.
On Saturday morning, gales will reach coastal areas of northern France, bringing winds of potentially 100 km/h to coastal areas, 80 km/h inland in the north, and prolonged rainfall to Normandy, Brittany, and Hauts-de-France.
However, it will be less impactful than first thought in France. State forecaster Météo France has issued less severe tier-two yellow warnings for Saturday.
These may be subject to change, however, depending on how Storm Amy progresses.
Elsewhere, pockets of rain and grey clouds will cover the south-west, centre, and east, frequently interchanging with abrupt sunny spells.
Only the Mediterranean coastline is set to be free from rain or other disturbances.
Temperature differences between north and south will also be marked, struggling to reach above 18C in the north but up to 27C along the Mediterranean coast in mid afternoon.
