Government changes illegal website
Higher education website discriminated against foreign students when it asked for residence permit
A GOVERNMENT website that discriminated against non-French applicants has been changed after pressure from the Human Rights League (LDH), parents and students.
The ministry of higher education and research website post-bac.fr is supposed to provide details of future courses and career options for students after passing their baccalauréat, but it did not allow foreign students to sign up.
It was supposed to be open to all students ,with no restrictions on nationality or place of residence, but the LDH discovered that it was impossible to register without having a titre de séjour residence permit.
The LDH said that was “discriminatory” and “perfectly illegal”.
Now the ministry has changed the site so that there is no discrimination against foreigners, with or without residence papers.
