Fines start on Wednesday for motorists not carrying a flourescent jacket and warning triangle in their car.

From Wednesday motorists who do not carry a flourescent jacket and warning triangle in their car will be fined €135.

The day marks the end of a grace period following the introduction of the new law in the beginning of July.

Fashion designer Karl Lagerfeld was drafed in to front a government campaign advertising the new law.

The high visibility jackets must be warn by the driver if their car is stopped by the roadside in an emergency or breakdown.
