Graham Templeton begins jail term
Conman who fleeced Dordogne expats out of €2m has begun his two-year jail term, eight months after he was sentenced
CONMAN Graham Templeton is in prison starting his two-year jail sentence for defrauding a group of Dordogne expats out of €2 million, The Connexion can reveal.
French prison authorities said that the fraudster had handed himself in and was now in Fresnes Prison, just outside Paris, in the Val de Marne.
His move comes just weeks after he told Connexion he would return to France to serve his sentence. Read our exclusive interview with him here
Templeton’s lawyer, Alexandre Novion in Bordeaux, confirmed that he was in the maison d’arrêt – a category of prison for non-violent prisoners expected to serve less than one year.
He has already served five months in prison while awaiting trial.
He was jailed for two years in June 2009 but like 82,000 other non-violent criminals in France, he was freed to await a letter telling to present himself at prison.
