Helmet worn by Hollande sells out
The French-brand helmet worn by the president in the Closer spread sold 1,000 in 24 hours
THE black helmet that President Hollande sports in the Closer photo spread has sold out and been renamed the Dexter President.
Pas-de-Calais firm D3T Distribution sold 1,000 of the model in 24 hours after internet users identified it as the one Hollande wore, the firm told journalists.
Its online sales site Motoblouz now lists the item as sold out and invites people to give their email to receive notification when they become available.
The model is exclusive to the firm and was on sale at €199, down from €300. It integrates Bluetooth so the wearer can communicate with a passenger or with mobile phones.
D3T managing director Thomas Thumerelle told regional paper La Voix du Nord: “We’re very proud the president wears one of our models.”
Making the most of the windfall, the firm publicised a jokey letter of thanks including other suggestions of products for his “next safe escapades”, including its collection of women’s jackets, which it says make “ideal Valentine’s Day presents”. It added: "Having trouble making your choice? Your feelings are torn? Don't hesitate to ask our advisers for help."
Unlike the Italian-made scooter the president used, the helmets are designed in France – though made in China...
