How green is your investment?
Le Monde has created an online calculator for working out how green your investments are
NEWSPAPER Le Monde has created an online calculator for working out how green your investments are, in partnership with a green finance consultancy, Utopies.
You can put in your various products from the high street banks at http://tinyurl.com/Investments-Calculator to work out your total impact.
Le Monde and Utopies say the bank that contributes the most to greenhouse gas emissions per euro invested is Crédit Agricole, followed by the HSBC, BNP Paribas and Société Générale.
Nef, a “cooperative society for financial solidarity”, was the body causing the least emissions, while the Banque Postale caused the least among high street names.
To make sure your money is invested in an eco-friendly fashion, many banks offer “socially responsible investment funds” (ISRs), which use criteria including environmental ones.
Some banks also offer fonds verts (green funds), which finance clean energy like solar and wind.
