Ikea sofas for Paris metro stops

New publicity stunt from furniture giant sees commuters swap cold plastic benches for comfy living room furniture

IKEA has installed comfy sofas on a number of Paris metro platforms to improve the wait for commuters.

The Swedish furniture giant has refitted four busy stations in the city centre with reading lamps and seating from its new range as part of a new publicity campaign.

The campaign runs until the end of next week at Saint-Lazare, Champs Elysées Clemenceau, Opéra and Concorde - only on lines 8, 12 and 13.

Last year, the shopping chain turned the concourse at the Gare de Lyon in Paris into a showroom with sofas and footrests for tired travellers.
