Insurers develop 'car crash app'
From next year, anyone involved in a road traffic collision in France can send an instant insurance claim via smartphone
FROM next year, anyone involved in a road traffic collision in France should be able to complete an accident report form for their insurers using their smartphone.
According to business daily Les Echos, the Association of Mutual Insurance Companies (Gema) and the French Federation of Insurance Companies (FFSA) have teamed up to develop a free app that will allow motorists involved in collisions to submit claims to their insurer instantly, without having to locate the blue form at the back of the glovebox or find a pen that works.
Users will also be able to attach sketches and images taken with their mobile phones. Receipt of the claim will be made by email.
It is hoped the app will speed up insurance claims, and help anyone involved in a collision to receive help more quickly.
Bernard Spitz, president of the FFSA, told Les Echos: “We wanted to make this application as simple as possible. Assistance will be guided every step of the process.”
