Man arrested after 2 die in bus crash

Police say tourist admitted grabbing wheel before coach crashed off motorway

A UKRANIAN tourist has been arrested after two people were killed and 30 injured in a Eurolines coach crash on the A9 motorway in the south-west.

The 30-year-old had grabbed hold of the steering wheel after arguing with the bus driver. The driver lost control and the bus hit a roadside barrier before overturning.

Narbonne prosecutor David Charmatz said that the man had told police he wanted the driver to stop the bus, which was travelling between Marseille and Murcia in the south of Spain.

The accident, on the A9 between Narbonne and Perpignan, was the second fatal road accident in Aude at the weekend and came after five teenagers were killed in a car crash at Trèbes, near Carcassonne.

One person survived the high-speed crash on a country road and the victims included three members of the same family.
