Man gets prison for eating finger
Six-month sentence for 62-year-old who bit off and swallowed finger during fight
A 62-year-old man has been sent to prison for six months for biting off and swallowing half of a finger during a fight.
The former farmer, who had no previous court convictions, received a full prison sentence of two years, but 18-months were suspended.
The incident happened last year in Saint-Yrieix-la-Perche in the Haute-Vienne, during a drunken fight with an acquaintance.
The man knocked the 76-year-old to the ground before holding up his hand and biting off half of his little finger in a single go.
The court heard that the finger was never found and the accused did not remember biting it off.
The accused told the court: “I didn't think it was that bad, an altercation between neighbours – that's all.”
When the judge asked him to clarify he responded: “There's worse Mr President.”
