McDonald’s hiring 3,000 extra staff
Fast-food giant organises jobs days to mark its place as No1 recruiter in France
FAST-FOOD giant McDonald’s is organising jobs days in 150 of its burger bars across France today as it prepares to mark a €200million investment and the hiring of 3,000 extra staff.
The company, which is celebrating 35 years since it opened its first restaurant in France, said it was the country’s leading recruiter, with president Jean-Pierre Petit saying: "Taking into account the turnover, this represents more than 40,000 jobs.”
McDonald’s will spend €110m on building 40 new restaurants across the country over the next three years and the remaining €90m will go on refurbishing present sites.
When the chain signed a deal with the government in 2011 to create 3,000 CDI jobs a year until 2014 it said that 80% of its staff were on CDI contracts and Petit said that this would continue in coming years.
Many of the 40,000 staff recruited each year are on part-time contracts but the company said 80% of its restaurant managers had started behind the counters.
Last year, the company saw sales up 2%.
